Koh Kood island, the pleasure final destination

Last week of our travel was planned as a passive holiday after the active travel holiday. Just not doing to much, enjoying a beach, sea, swimming pool and restaurant and all that, what should proper passive holiday offer.

It took us some 30 minutes by a shared "taxi" to get from the Pop Guesthouse to the Laem Sok boat pier. Than 2 hrs of the boat ride to reach the Koh Kood. And another 30 minutes to get to our resort.

Yes, really, we did stay in the resort. The A Na Lay Resort to be specific. And it was truly a pleasant stay. In one of the smaller, but still spacious enough, bungalows. Private bathroom, air-con and TV (which we used to connect to the Wi-Fi and stream from our smartphones). And bufet breakfast included. 46€ / night (double bed and an extra mattress).

The place offers both nice spacious swimming pool, beautiful shallow beach and rocky shore. And all of that has been fully and daily used by all of us. The molo and rocks are a good spots for a snorkeling. With relative richness of fish to observe. Especially during the low tide it´s convenient also for the kids. Plus there is also a popular snorkel spot (often visited by visiting boats) with a nice corals and decent visibility just a swimming distance (100 m) from the beach. The resort restaurant has a reasonable range of food/price selection of both typical rice and noodles dishes as well as outstanding fresh seafood selection. Though a change for some outside dining was necessary once or twice. The breakfast was rich but monotonous after couple of days. There is also a shop with all the stuff lazy tourist may need. Including snacks (kids) or beer (Lukas). Also, just outside the area, on the main road, there is a motorbike rental. Which turned out to be probably the cheapest one on the island (200 THB/ 24hrs).

So, after initial 3 days, when we had been acknowledged with all what the resort can offer it was time for Lukas to rent a moto and go exploring the rest of the island. At least for that one day. And, truly speaking, it was also needed as he seemed bored and annoyed. So he took some extra petrol (40 THB / L) and enjoyed riding all around. He also did some shopping of fishing gear so that him and Tad could later enjoy catching some small fish from the molo. He as well discovered and visited a good Thai massage (Meow massage, 250 THB / 60min). Which we, to be specific, both visited once again during our stay for a great 2hrs "good bye" massage. Once Lukas got used to the moto driving he was ok to do some rides with all of us or just with the kids. So, apart for going to eat out and for the massages, we also made a trip to the nice Klong Chao waterfall.

1 week stay was about the right time to collect our thoughts and forces. And also to accept the fact that the time flies, our travel is at it´s finish and to get ready to return back home.

Both the Koh Kood and the A Na Lay Resort are highly recommended for anyone willing to go for a relaxing holiday (with or without kids) to the Thailand and to visit a place where the number of tourists / travelers is still acceptable.

Our verdict on both the island and the resort: 9/10.
