Gecko Guesthouse review

We have booked this place directly (fb messages) based on positive reviews. And all the communication was nice and flexible. (We have changed dates 3 times while planning our travel.)

We stayed at the family room. Simple and budget one. Two large double beds, private bathroom with hot water, fan. Iron bench to sit outside. Place to park a car or motorbike just in front.

When we first came to the room there were couple of mosquitos but the owner promptly used an insect spray and it was ok since that.

The Gecko reception/bar has a nice vegetation and roof covered area. There is even a small pool with turtle and fish. It is possible to bring your food to eat (or order sandwiches on offer) and/or have a drink (beer 5 RM). There is also TV there (rather disrupting).

The owner seemed a little bit peculiar to us first but soon turned out to be a very nice guy always ready to help or even proactively coming with good ideas. (Terima Kasih for them).

Everyone around nice to the kids. But it is more like typical (and nice) backpackers than a family oriented place.

Rating 7/10. Good location 200m from the Pantai Cenang beach. Reasonable price of 120 RM / night. Relatively clean. Nice service. The room would require some renovation though.
